Political Post

***********WARNING************ This post might rile up political feelings one way or another... If you don't want to get in to it, please move on to the next. ****YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED****** As you may or may not know, I am one of those extreme right-wing nut-jobs. I have noticed I now have quite a few readers who lean the opposite way politically. I figured this would be a great opportunity to discuss something that bugs me.... What ideas do the Democrats have for this country? You may dismiss this as a meaningless question, but I seriously want to know. Right now, I look for ideas coming from the left, and all I see is attacks directed towards those who hold power on the right. This has proven to be a losing strategy in the last few elections, so I really wonder why they are hanging on to it. So, for all my new Liberal friends... Here is your chance to educate me... What ideas will your party put forward? What policies will they try to get enacted? What ideas do they have on SSI, the economy, education, and any other problems this country is facing today? Or do you think it's a winning strategy to continue down the road of obstructionism and attacks? I asked everyone I could during the last presidential election the following question: "How will John Kerry make a good president"? Every single time I got the same answer.... "He's not Bush". Is this really a way to get someone elected- to have no ideas, just to claim you aren't somebody else? Just my curiosity... feel free to help me out.

I kinda get too heated when debating politics, and you and I have been quite friendly despite our seriously differing beliefs. So I will refer you to God Dem's post on The Principles of Liberalism and hope that's a good start: http://goddem.blogspot.com/2005/05/principles-of-liberals.html

Jersey.... I read the post you refered me to, and I am as clueless as when I started. Just about every sentence posted on there could have come from either party and made just as much sense. The only thing I saw of any substance was the line: That not all tax cuts are good, and not all tax hikes are bad because building a prosperous America means investing in the welfare and well being of all citizens. Which I don't necessarily agree with, but I think I see the point that he was trying to make.

Hopefully someone can clue me in... I think I am an average citizen who can't make heads or tails out of what the democrats are trying to do now... And if they can't explain it to someone who trully is interested in knowing... I don't see how they think they'll ever get their message across to the voters.

So I see your into blogging baptism by fire. Interesting. I'll be back to read the rest of the comments later.

I can't help you in your quest as I am a practicing elephant myself;-)

Blogging baptism by fire... LMAO...

I just wanted to spark an interesting discussion. I am a political junkie... For the most part, i leave it out of my blog... but I figured, Hey... we're all friends on here... why can't friends discuss politics? Even when it breaks out into heated arguments... I'll never take it personally (at least until someone breaks down and starts name calling when they can't back up their point).

Just a friendly little discussion is all I'm looking for.

I think I love you! :) (EASY, PresentStorm, I'm joking!) Anyway, I am so far on the right, I drive most right-wingers to the left! :) I can NOT discuss politics because, well, I have a hard time getting my thoughts and point across and then it gets ugly. But I will be interested to see what kind of discussion comes of this post. You go boy!

I can't speak for the democratic party, but I speak for myself. I'm honestly not a huge fan of the democratic party. I see them as the lesser of two evils. With the way this country is headed under Bush, I'd pretty much vote for anybody who wasn't part of the neoconservative cabal, regardless of what their ideas are. The democrats can nominate Alfred E. Newman and I'd vote for him. What I'd LOVE to see the democrats stand for in an ideal world would be real universal healthcare, a serious investment in education rather than just falling back on standardized testing, support for a living wage for all workers OR a real safety net for those who are left behind by capitalism. I'd like to see more investment in alternative energy sources so we don't have to keep inventing rationales to attack countries with oil. I'd like to see a trade policy that makes protecting the environment and the rights of the workers as important as the financial bottom line. I'd like to see drugs treated as a health issue rather than a criminal issue. I'd like to see a foreign policy that does not prop up dictators only to go in and fight them years later. I want respect for our civil liberties and privacy. I'd like protection of the separation of church and state. Basically, I want the opposite of what Bush and Co. are offering, but I certainly do not expect that from the democratic party.

Well... I guess your dreamworld is a start.... not quite what I was asking for, but it's something.

That's OK though... I didn't really expect an answer on this question anyways. I already know that the Democrats have nothing to offer at this time. They have no plans. They have no future.

But that's ok.... Ya'll are more entertaining when your whining anyways.
