You Have Bad Taste In Music

These guys are only trying to help....

"Average" Joe Recap....

Ok... so the new season of Average Joe is out... I'll have to step up and ask once again, these guys are average??? If so... that means there are a lot more geeks, dorks, and far far below average people in this country than I thought. Anyway- They get all these "average" guys into a gym and they are met by three losers from last year... They make them go through a boot camp and eliminate 4 of them without even getting to meet the girl. They brought back the forth loser from last year too... Larissa... Yeah, I still laugh every time i think about the guy she chose last year dumping her when he learns she used to date Flabio. Anna (the new girl) gets to see the huge yaught she'll be staying on... She is impressed- feels like a princess and all that... I guess that's good considering she'll soon be kissing toads. So then she gets to meet all the guys... And the look on her face says it all... "OMG- ya'll stuck me on Average Joe! I have to date geeks and losers before ya'll bring the beefcake out!" Anyway, they have a cocktail party... 18 guys slobbering over the only available date... Typical scene found in bars across the country every night of the week. Then she kicked 6 of them to the curb. But wait- the twist... one of them gets to go have an extreme makeover.... He saw a nutritionist, a personal trainer, an eyebrow waxer, a life coach, and then a plastic surgeon.... A dentist, a stylist, etc.... After all that, They'll throw him back in the mix later for another shot... Soon, they'll throw in the buff guys who are there just to be assholes to the "average" guys... And one of the buff guys will win the heart of the girl dashing all dorks and geeks hope of ever finding true love with a beautiful woman once again. Gotta love making people who already feel like crap about themselves feel even worse on national television, right?

Supreme Confusion....

The Supreme Court, struggling with a vexing social issue, held Monday it was constitutionally permissible to display the Ten Commandments on the grounds of the Texas capitol but that it was a violation of separation of church and state to place them in Kentucky courthouses. I don't get it.... It's OK for some but not for others.... In a court where you place your hand on the Bible and swear to God that you will tell the truth, you can't display the Ten Commandments... Yet the court where that decision was made has a huge Ten Commandments display in it and that's ok.... This court needs a good shakeup... their recent decisions have been so out of whack with where the American people are it's unbelievable... They aren't basing decisions on the Constitution as it is written... they are basing them on other decisions over the years that have twisted what the Constitution says so far out of whack.... Another big one form the other day... Property rights... Your house or property is no longer really yours.... you just pay for it until some investor thinks he can use it better than you can... Then they will forcibly remove you from it and give it to him.... No retirements today. Renquist and O'Connor both should be leaving soon, and it can't be soon enough. We need to get folks on the bench who actually have some respect for the Constitution rather than the ones who think their opinions outweigh everything this country is based on. I know this post is rambling and confusing, but I am just astounded by the arrogance that this Supreme Court has brought us... I'll just end this here and see what comes from everything....

Some new pics....

First off... For some reason I got up at 1:30 in the morning... I thought it was like 4 am or something and hopped out of bed... threw some laundry in and came to sit at the PC.... I just realized it's just after 2am... I need to go back to bed! But here are some pics real quick.... the first was my Christmas present from my dad... He built this bench- all cedar... heavy.... Love it! Bench This one and the next are pics of our very first Angel's Trumpet. We planted 3 of these plants so far(2 of this variety, who knows on the 3rd). This plant is about 5 feet tall and will have quite a few more blooms soon.... Angel Trumpet I had no clue that the flowers would be yellow.... I think when we bought it, the label said orange.... Angel Trumpet 2 How bout another shot of a sunflower.....? This one I had to post just because of how warped the actual flower ended up.... Not real sure why this happened... Sunflower

Quitting smoking update!

For those who don't know, I decided to quit smoking a while back. Well... I thought I'd give a little update on how things have gone. I don't smoke at home, or any other place except work. For some reason, I have not been able to make it through work without finding someone and bumming a smoke. Anyway- I am taking some vacation time starting on the 30th. I will be home and not around smokers for a little more than a week. That should give me some time to be totally smoke free. Plus, I've been hearing commercials on the radio for a quitting contest.... I signed up today and that should provide a little more incentive. I don't want to smoke anymore... nasty habit that costs too damn much! Wish me luck in the upcoming weeks, soon I won't even be an at-work smoker!

19 Rules of Driving in Houston

My friend Texas Ivy has had a small fit of road rage.... I thought as a service to her, and also as a service to anyone who may visit Houston, I'd put up the 19 Cardinal Rules Of Driving In Houston..... 1. A right lane construction closure is just a game to see how many people can cut in line by passing you on the right as you sit in the left lane waiting for the same jerks to squeeze their way back in before hitting construction barrels. (Bonus points are awarded for getting out of your car and moving the barrels.) 2. Turn signals provide clues as to your next move in the road battle so never use them. 3. Under no circumstances should you leave a safe distance between you and the car in front of you no matter how fast you're going. If you do, the space will be filled in by somebody else putting you in an even more dangerous situation. 4. The faster you drive through a red light, the less your chance of getting hit. 5. The car with the most extensive body work automatically has the right of way. (Remember no-fault insurance. He might not have as much to lose as you do.) 6. Braking is to be done as hard and late as possible to insure that your anti-lock braking system kicks in to give you a nice relaxing foot massage as the brake pedal pulsates. 7. Construction signs are carefully positioned to tell you about road closures immediately after you pass the last opportunity to exit, but just before the traffic begins to back up. 8. The electronic traffic warning system signs are not there to provide useful information, but just to tell time and make Houston look progressive. 9. Never pass on the left when you can pass on the right. It's a good way to scare people entering the highway. Passing on the shoulder is encouraged; that's why they're paved. 10. Speed limits are arbitrary figures to make Texas look as if it conforms with other state policies; these are intended only as suggestions and are actually unenforceable. 11. Just because you're in the left lane and have no room to speed up or move over doesn't mean that a driver flashing his high beams behind you doesn't think he can go faster in your spot. 12. Please remember that there is no such thing as a shortcut during rush-hour traffic. 13. Always slow down and rubberneck when you see an accident or even a person changing a tire. If you're lucky, you may see the unlucky breakdown victim get mugged. 14. Learn to swerve abruptly. Houston is the home of the very high-speed slalom driving thanks to Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), who put potholes in key locations to test drivers' reflexes and keep them on their toes. Parts of truck tires are left on new highways where potholes haven't yet been established. 15. It is considered correct in Houston to honk your horn at cars that don't move the instant the light changes. Our city is founded upon such traditions. 16. Seeking eye contact with another driver automatically revokes your right of way. 17. Giving the finger may invite armed retaliation. Be sure that your rifle is on the gun rack in the rear window and visible rather than lying on the seat. 18. When in doubt, remember that all unmarked exits lead to Louisiana. 19. You don't have to wait for an exit to get off a freeway, just follow the ruts in the grass to the frontage road like everyone else. This is how Houston residents notify TxDOT where exits should have been built.

Just a few pics....

Just thought I'd share a couple of pictures from my back yard..... 8-7 016 8-7 010

A couple of animal stories.....

Charges Against Teen Upgraded After Dog He Allegedly Raped Dies Ummmmmmmmmmmmm...... Dude. You are a sicko. Where in the world do people like this crawl out of? I just don't understand. On a lighter note: Six-legged puppy dumped at temple Not only does it have six legs... it has an extra penis!

The World's Ugliest Wallpaper....

The wonderful Michele sent me over to visit Emaleejayne this morning... She has some pictures of the wallpaper in her new house posted... It is ugly, but it reminded me of the wallpaper we had when we first moved in to our house. I think I have her beat on the ugly scale... what do you think? Ugly wallpaper

Happy Father's Day- Part II

I hope everybody had a great Father's Day today.... My daughter got up wanting to treat me good today.... She sent me an e-card and then went to painting for me: daddyday 039 They got me some great Father's Day gifts and set me up in one of my favorite places... in front of my bar-b-q.... All in all, I had a pretty damn good day! I've got the best wife and daughter a man could ask for, and I live a great life. Even when I screw up really badly they still are there for me and love me... I am trully blessed. Thank you Lord for all the blessings you have put in my life... especially my family! Today was great- just getting to spend time with them.

Happy father's day!

I rememeber the day she was born.... I broke down and cried... I was so happy... I created this beautiful little girl... so tiny... so helpless... so dependent on me for everything... I had to step up... had to become something... I was no longer able to live off of life at the convience store. Anyway- The first year... I got a "real" job plus went to school full time... I was out of the house from around 5am and wouldn't get home till after 11pm Monday thru thurs... No school on Friday so actually got to pretend I was human- and the weekends I had off... I knew my little girl deserved more than what I used to be... that I had to step up and be the best daddy I could.... She's pretty spoiled... to the point that even she thinks she has too many toys. (That's mostly not my fault)... But she has a great head on her shoulders... She knows what is right... she knows God is there for her thru anything... I thought the divorce would screw her up... she bounces back and forth every week between my house and her mom's... She knows the rules are different in both places, and she knows what she can and can't get away with... she handles it better than I ever thought she could... She knows she is loved... My baby girl is 7 years old already... It freaks me out... I still see the little baby that depended on me for everything, and this big girl who can do everything for herself pops up.... I want to be the best daddy that I can- And I thank God for the chance... I love my little Angel... Happy Father's Day. Thank you God for giving me this opportunity... It changed my life... It made me a better person... I would not trade a moment of it for the world!

First harvest

Today I decided I was sick of waiting... I chopped my first sunflower head off and brought it in to harvest the seed. I am going to try to make them how I've read in quite a few places.... Cover unshelled seeds with salted water. Use 1/4 to 1/2 cup of salt per two quarts of water. Bring to a boil and simmer for two hours. Drain and dry on absorbent paper. Roast sunflower seeds in a shallow pan at 300 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes or until golden brown, stirring occasionally. After removing from the oven, stir in one teaspoon of melted butter or margarine for every cup of seeds. Cool on an absorbent towel and salt to taste. Here's the flower head I brought in: 6-18-05 008 I tried to get a good size comparison kicking... here's a pic with a penny placed on it: 6-18-05 012 The next dillema was... how do I remove the seeds....? I rounded up some child labor and forced them into picking them out.... 6-18-05 014 Unfortunately, this was about as far as their interest held out... I will be pulling the rest out. We'll let you know how they turn out! 6-18-05 016

Some random thoughts and pictures.....

Nintendo This is my daughter first thing in the morning Thursday. Totally engrossed in her game with no clue what was going on around her. Sign of the times..... ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Toll Lane This is an every day sight for me.... Unfortunately, I work right off the toll road.... Every day I have to pay $2.25 for the privledge of going to work. But today was annoying.... The chick in the little Honda in front of me... She pulls up to the coin box... drops some change in (who knows how much?) and then sits there stupidly when the gate doesn't open. She tries to pull forwrd like somehow being closer to the gate will magically make it open.... Then she does my favorite.... she throws it in reverse and looks back at me like I'm gonna go somewhere. Lady... there are 20 cars behind you getting pissed.... nobody is gonna back up... just throw some more money in the bucket and let's get moving! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ For those who just can't get enough of my wonderful sunflowers... here are a few more pics of them: Sunflowers Sunflowers Sunflowers Sunflowers Sunflowers And then to finish up the day today, we went and watched this- Fireworks 030

What's in the news...?

So... "What does guppyman find interesting today" you are asking yourself.... Well... let's take a trip around some of the news websites and see.... 4 (large) quakes in 5 days Looks like it may be time to start buying property in Nevada.... It may end up beachfront before you know it! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ OK... Does anybody out their care in the slightest about Tom and Katie? Fake dating doesn't impress me, and neither do fake proposals. But even if it's real.... WHO CARES????? +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ New reality shows discussed... I don't like this guy... he ends up dogging two of my favorite shows that are on right now... Hit me baby one mre time & Fire me please.... Both of these are hilarious for their own reasons... Hit me baby just because it's funny to see these guys try to recapture their old glory, and Fire Me is just plain funny... If you watch the last episode... i bet you are still singing the Boring song. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Goodyear Blimp crashes in Florida.... +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ PETA employees charged with animal cruelty Too funny... damn nazi animal rights screwballs. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I want a two-faced kitty! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Shirt for sale on E-bay +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ So they didn't touch Lohan's breasts after all... That's about it for now... I'll be sure to get back to you on anything else i may find entertaining.... Is this a great country or what? ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Jacksons plan casino bash to celebrate For some reason, I just found this hilarious! I guess the family decided that they needed to have the party somewhere that Michael would have no access to young boys?

Shower Jesus.....

Has anybody seen the E-bay listing for the Shower jesus? I am a Christian, and I'd love to see the face of Christ (and I am counting on doing so some day), But... I just don't see it. Sure... I can see how you can make a face out of stains like this... You may really want to see it.... But who is to say it's not the face of Mickey Rourke or something.... Really now. So .... do you see the face of Jesus in the water stain? Or the face of Mary? Do you think that these sightings are a miracle, or are they just natural phenomenon? Virgin Mary water stain Christ in a ceiling water stain Jesus' Face In Apartment Window The one thing I won't do is condemn those who believe and get something out of it... If you see something in these that makes you a better person... then I have no problem with that! Maybe it is devine intervention meant specifically for you!

Hey Liberals - Let's talk.....

I found this article in the Washington Times... It is basically about Bush finally stepping up and calling the Democrats out on their lack of a plan... Go read it... I'll wait. la la la la la lala la..... OK... Now that you've read the article, can anyone let me know if there are any plans whatsoever on the Left side of the aisle? I know I've asked before... but I still haven't found an answer. Is the only goal of the left to obstruct anything from happening? Are there any plans to move forward? If there are... what are they? And if there are none... how do you expect to win anything with no plan? Not trying to inflame anyone.... Just really curious. I know I'd be pissed if my party seemed to be flailing about with no purpose other than to block the other side... I'd demand to know what their vision was moving forward.
Hello everybody... It's Wednesday... I don't have too much to say. I'm sure that anybody who has been over to my wife's blog has read that I suck with finacial matters... I do. Baby- I am sorry I screwed everything up so badly, but most of all, I'm sorry I tried to keep it all from you. Thank you for being the wonderful woman that you are! I am truly blessed to have you as my wife. For anybody who hasn't done so, wouldn't this be a great time to Blogroll Me! And for something to do... Check out the murals that this guy does... absolutely amazing!

Hit Me Baby one More Time

OK... After missing last weeks episode of Hit Me Baby one More Time , I finally remembered it was on and set the DVR up.... Here's my take on last night's train wreck. The Knack - "My Sharona" Covering "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" (Jet) OK.... The Knack did great on My Sharona, but when they got around to doing the Jet song, it was kinda like watching the Partridge Family covering AC/DC. Hey look, I'm a really old bubble gum pop star that looks like a physicist trying to rock... It just didn't work for me. Haddaway - "What is Love?" Covering " Toxic (Britney Spears) Flaming idiot! Even with all the backup dancers in the short little skirts, he was still the most feminine person on stage. And last night I realized just how few words 'What is love" has in it... has there ever been a song with less words that made it on the charts? Tommy Tutone - "867-5309/Jenny" Covering "All the Small Things" (Blink 182) While they look like they picked them up out of an alley or from a homeless shelter before the show, I actually enjoyed Tommy Tutone. That was a far better version of 'All the Small Things' than Blink 182 does. The Motels - "Only the Lonely" Covering "Don't Know Why" (Norah Jones) OMG- it's Martha Davis's mom! Damn she got old! She sounded great still, but damn! Anyway, this old lady who looks like a soccer grandma still did a great job on her song, and the cover of the overplayed 'Don't Know Why' was at least fresh. I kinda enjoyed them too. Vanilla Ice - "Ice Ice Baby" Covering " Survivor" (Destiny's Child) Rob Van Winkle.... Wasn't he on the Surreal Life bitching about being known as Vanilla Ice not too long ago? I was amazed that he would perform Ice Ice Baby again.... Glad to see he put a lot more into it than what it was when he recorded it... it was almost a tolerable version this time. I guess Rob sees how Eminem is getting rich by taking up the vanilla Ice slack and wants to jump back on the train.... His "cover" of 'I'm a Survivor' was anything but a cover, but apparently that's within the rules, so why not? I'm not sure who should've won last night... I was between The Knack, Tommy Tutone and Rob.... I guess it doesn't matter anyway, supposebly it's all for charity. I loved the show though and can't wait for next week now. Cameo, Howard jones, Irene Cara, Sophie B. Hawkins and Wang Chung are all on tap. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Vagina makeovers?

Apparently, plastic surgery on private parts is the new "in" thing.... Ummmmm.... ok.... Hmmmmm..... I just don't know what to say about this.

Holy crap!

Here's an intense little car wreck for you....

No offence, but we're putting you on hold

What I want to know is.... What is the series of numbers he punched in to be able to change their message? That sure would come in handy! Gerard Seenan Thursday June 9, 2005 The Guardian When taxi driver Ashley Gibbins called the helpline of NTL hoping to have broadband installed, he was told that all its operators were busy right now, but if he cared to hold the line his call would be dealt with as soon as possible. So Mr Gibbins held. And held. Then held some more. Eventually, after an hour, Mr Gibbins decided he had had enough. He put the phone down and decided to wreak his revenge. By chance, Mr Gibbins discovered he could alter NTL's recorded message, and after he'd tinkered with it people seeking help were met with something altogether more blunt. "Hello, you are through to NTL customer services," they were told. "We don't give a fuck about you, basically, and we are not going to handle any of your complaints. Just fuck off and leave us alone. Get a life." NTL did not see the funny side and called in the police. Magistrates in Teesside, however, may have had similar experience on corporate helplines themselves. Mr Gibbins, 26, from Redcar, Cleveland, was acquitted at Teesside magistrates' court on Tuesday of an offence under the Communications Act 2003 of making a grossly offensive message. The magistrates decided Mr Cleveland's rant was merely offensive, and did not make the "grossly offensive" standard required for prosecution. A spokeswoman for Cleveland Crown Prosecution Service said Mr Gibbins admitted he had left the message but denied that it was grossly offensive. "He did accept that he was responsible. The main question was whether the message was deemed to be offensive or grossly offensive. "The judiciary heard all the issues before them and they decided in this particular instance that it was not grossly offensive," said the spokeswoman. NTL's media centre put the Guardian on hold, suggested we try another number and then declined to comment.

Battle of the blogs

OK... So I have been doing the Battle of the Blogs over at Blog Explosion and I have realized something.... My site must suck or something. I have lost 70 friggin times! I've only won like 45 times.... Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr......
The poor tropics are depressed! Tropical depression #1 formed today and should be entering the Gulf of Mexico soon. Living on the gulf coast, we always have to keep a sharp eye on what's going on out there. you never know when we may end up with a scene like this (or worse) again.... Have you ever wondered what Nintendo themes would sound like if they were performed a cappella? Me neither, but apparently somebody did.... That's it for now....

Today

Not much going on in the world today.... Just working. I have cousins in town who I haven't seen in years... We all went out for dinner yesterday... It was pretty cool. My daughter got to meat their kids, she had a blast. Anyway- here's something interesting: Guess the google A game where they give you a montage of pictures from Google, and you have to guess what search word they used to get the pics. It's pretty cool. (and addicting)

Today's oddities....

Here's a few things I found today to keep you entertained! First off, here's a little bit of that damn frog from over in the UK. How in the world did the frog ringtone hit #1 on the charts over there? Is music really in that bad of shape? +++++++ +++++ +++++++ Next up, what do you do when you have both too much time and too much lard on your hands? You have a Lard Sculpting Competition, of course! +++++++ +++++ +++++++ And finally, I know there are those of you out there who can't get enough of quizes on the Internet. Well, try out this Amazing Quiz! That should keep ya'll occupied for a few minutes anyway... I will continue my search for the strange and interesting things that make this little place called the Interent a fun place to be!

From PresentStorm

My wife is addicted to this stuff... After getting hit with a couple of memes, she decided to write her own. So I figured I'd do this one. If you like it, use it and give her props. 1.Type the first word that pops into your mind ....right...now .... Dork 2.One word describing you .. laid-back 3.If you were a super-hero what would your name be? The Super Procrastinator - I'd fight crime when I got around to it... And I'd never do something now that could wait until later. 4.What is the most embarrasing cd in your collection ? I'll never be embarresed by my musical choices... If I like it, I'll listen to it. 5.If you were a zoo animal which one would you be ? Lion 6.If you could have any job in the circus what would it be ? I'd be a clown... (I actually sorta tried out for Ringling Bros. once, but during the tryouts when I realized that everyone around me was a professional clown already, I kinda chickened out)

Blogger who makes you laugh the most? That would be guppyman! That guy is hilarious! 3. Blogger whose template(skin) is the coolest? What is this, you want me to judge people by their complextion? I just can't be prejudiced like that! 4. Blogger you can't wait to read a new entry from? I love it when I find new entries on all of my blog friends... So there you have it... nice and non-confrontational.... And just for grins, I'm passing this on to everyone who is on my blogroll that hasn't done it yet. Be sure to check if your name is listed, and if it's not, feel free to ask me 'why the Hell isn't it there yet?'

Inappropriately Dressed

OK We've all seen it.... The people who leave the house in clothing they shouldn't have.... Wouldn't you like to point out when people are Inappropriately Dressed?

She blocked me!

OMG WTF?

A few more sunflowers opened.....

Since the sunflowers seem to be the biggest hit on my site, I figured I'd post just a few more on here... we had 2 new ones open today, and we have about 5 more that will probably open over the weekend. I made sure all the pics were clickable back to flickr in case you wanted em bigger. I have to start thinking about what to plant in their place soon... after they die back, half the garden will be blank! 6-3 023 6-3 029 6-3 030 6-3 021

Check it out....

This was pretty cool.... I had to go up to the IRS office today to get some paperwork, and I guess Bo and Luke were having some tax problems they needed to take care of... Here's what I parked next to: And just for grins, this may give a little perspective to the size of my sunflowers:

Old Survivor fans?

‘Survivor’ reruns to air on OLN This is great! I have watched all but one season, and I can't wait till they start airing these again. I'll set up my DVR to catch em all, and finally be able to show my wife season 1, which they will start showing July 24. Cool! (or pathetic, I can't decide)

Romance Novels

Ok... I'm sure one or two of you read the things.... But shouldn't they have titles like this?

Political Post

***********WARNING************ This post might rile up political feelings one way or another... If you don't want to get in to it, please move on to the next. ****YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED****** As you may or may not know, I am one of those extreme right-wing nut-jobs. I have noticed I now have quite a few readers who lean the opposite way politically. I figured this would be a great opportunity to discuss something that bugs me.... What ideas do the Democrats have for this country? You may dismiss this as a meaningless question, but I seriously want to know. Right now, I look for ideas coming from the left, and all I see is attacks directed towards those who hold power on the right. This has proven to be a losing strategy in the last few elections, so I really wonder why they are hanging on to it. So, for all my new Liberal friends... Here is your chance to educate me... What ideas will your party put forward? What policies will they try to get enacted? What ideas do they have on SSI, the economy, education, and any other problems this country is facing today? Or do you think it's a winning strategy to continue down the road of obstructionism and attacks? I asked everyone I could during the last presidential election the following question: "How will John Kerry make a good president"? Every single time I got the same answer.... "He's not Bush". Is this really a way to get someone elected- to have no ideas, just to claim you aren't somebody else? Just my curiosity... feel free to help me out.
