The Dukes of Hazzard

Just two good old boys, never meanin' no harm... Beats all you never saw, been in trouble with the law Since the day they was born. Straightenin' the curves, flattenin' the hills... Someday the mountain might get 'em but the law never will. Makin' their way, the only way they know how... That's just a little bit more than the law will allow. Just two good ol' boys, wouldn't change if they could, Fightin' the system like two modern-day Robin Hoods... I grew up watching the Dukes of Hazzard. Actually... it was more than watching the Dukes... I grew up convinced that I could be Bo Duke. Me and my neighbor would actually fight over who got to be Bo... I got into the car for years through the window... I wanted the General Lee to be my car... You get the picture... So anyway... We went and saw the new Dukes of Hazzard movie today. I've heard bad reviews... I've heard from Cooter that it was just crap... I've heard from purists that it was crap... etc.... I tried real hard to wipe out all expectations for what I was going to see. I've seen TV remake movies and if you are looking to see the TV show again, you'd be in the wrong place. All in all... I enjoyed the movie. Yeah... there was some stuff that was hard to get over... Daisy being a blonde, Rosco P. Coletrain not really being the Rosco we all knew and loved... A skinny Boss Hogg... etc... If I was looking for the TV show on the big screen, the entire thing was cast wrongly... But that's not what I was looking for. I was looking for an entertaining movie... And I got it. Great to see the General flying again... Great soundtrack... Pretty darn good movie. If you're worried about it being cheesy.... of course it is! If you are looking for the TV show... tune in CMT... But if you can go in with an open mind, it is worth the time. At least, I thought so.

I still have my autogrphed Daisy Duke picture somewhere. Got it on a scout trip to the Shriner's Circus when I was a kid. I was dared to touch a boob....but I was too chicken.

I just can't do it. I can not watch it. The same went for The Grinch movie, Scooby Doo and especially Charlie and the Chocolate factory! I'm just as happy only having seen all of these shows as a child as they were supposed to be. :) Does that make me a purist? Besides, I can't stand Johnny Knoxville, Jessica I can only take on her "reality show" because Nick is good eye candy..and that other guy, only reminds me of the doofus he played in American Pie. Yeah, it makes me a bit crabby. But I'm glad you guys liked it!! :)

Not sure if I will go see it in the theater but i may rent it when it comes out. I'm just not sure if I can replace Bo in my mind with someone else. A skinny boss hogg what's that all about half the smile value comes from the fat hogg?!?!

It doesn't really matter who's playing what role -- the car is the real star!
