HOUSTON IS BEING INVADED!!!!!

They are everywhere! You turn on the news, and there they are... Every time a news crew sees one they thrust a camera in their face and get them to tell their views on how things have been handled... They whine... They complain.... Personally, I'm sick of them all! No... I'm not talking about our wonderful guests from New orleans... they are more than welcome here... I'm talking about the massive influx of celebrities... Oprah, Travolta, Dr. Phil, Hillary, etc... WTF are you doing here other than trying to make yourself look good on TV? Who cares what you think about the way things are being handled? Either start helping out or get out of the way so those who do want to help can. Sean Penn- Politically, I can't stand him.... Every time he opens his mouth I change the channel.... BUT- He hopped in a boat in N.O. and started rescuing people.... I like that. That's the type of thing people need to do... Nobody cares to see the rest of you just sticking your face out in the public eye so you can look like you were there in a crisis.... Send your check to the Red cross and get the hell out of the way.... OK... I feel better now.... BTW- The hurricane season is far from over.... We have our M, N, and about to have our O named storms....

Oh, criminy. I should have figured that celebrities would be showing up to cash in on some attention.

You gave the best advice when you said:

"Send your check to the Red cross and get the hell out of the way...."

Exactly!

I agree, these celebs either need to put on some wading boots and get in and help people, or just send their checks and stay home! Idiots!!!

(Wow, and you said something good about Sean Penn? Even *I* don't like him!)

Believe it or not... I could really care less about people's politics when it comes down to what they are doing... I have read since I posted that he took his full entorage with him (including photographer) and had some problems with a leaky boat that didn't work. But i also heard he decided to try again the next day and actually did pull some folks out. If he'd just learn to shut his mouth, we might actually be able to get along well enough to work side by side helping folks out....

Have you considered that these people who have been through HELL probably feel a little better that a celebrity came to see them? Also, that they can raise a lot of money? You don't seem to mind that a certain president is suddenly taking photo ops. I'm sure all of them are motivated by varying amounts of charity and desire for publicity. I'm not even sure who Sean Penn is -- did he take out a cameraman once?-- but good for him that he did something, with or without photographers.

Don't be too hard on Mitey mite... She happens to be somebody I know who doesn't have the skills to start a blog of her own.... Even though she's wrong 95% of the time, She's still good people.... ;)

i don't understand why they are down there, surely they can fundraise from where they are? it's like they're cashing in on this tragedy, what they won't do for possible ratings.

Does everyone dislike Sean Penn because he was married to Madonna?

I agree that I am sick of the celebrities. I am sick of them invading everything that ever happens to anyone. What sort of relevance do these people have to this situation? NONE.

I'm in complete agreement with ya guppyman!

Although celebrities are people too and their efforts CAN spur more money into the charities, seeing Richard Simmons clad in a sequined tank top and striped shorts going into the French Quarter to check on his boyhood home (on Entertainment Tonight), was more than I could bear. *lol*

The media is exploiting alot of the suffering as the "Greatest Reality Show of all times"

Sad.
