BlogMad Challenge
Ok folks.... we've all been going mad checking out Blogmad... I've gotten huge amounts of hits because of it-
BUT....
Is it doing any of us any good?
Where are the comments? Where are the new readers that come back day after day to see what's happening?
Where is the payoff other than seeing my hit counter rise?
This is the biggest problem I see with most traffic exchanges- yes... people see your blog... yes... you get hits... but Do they bother reading what you have to say? I know not everyone is interested in what I have to say- I click next blog on a lot that I surf too- but if it sparks my interest at all- I try to at least leave an "I was here" type comment...
So... that's my challenge for the day... How many of you are willing to at least try to comment on the pages you surf...? let's see if we can make it a true traffic exchange- not one where you just see random 20 second splashes of color while waiting to click the right numbers...

I always comment on blogs I surf if I like them. You are right though, most people just surf to earn credits, and just zoom on by blog after blog.
I have to agree...Not many comment or even just say Hi I stopped by via "whomever"(insert exchange here)
I am not real fond of how the favorites are set up at blogmad though...Would prefer a "close frame" option to put in my own book marks, not many have a suscribe button either...
Peace
Jodi

Very well said. I'm happy with the traffic, but the community aspect needs a little bit of work.
Hi ..I was here ...lol
=) i surfed by and read every single word of this entry. i agree. my blog seems to get bunches of traffic but very few comments. not that write for comments but geez... ~nods~ i understand. happy sunday.
I feel your pain. Hits to my blog have jumped dramatically since BlogMad went live, but commenting is about usual. If I see a blog I like, I usually leave a comment. Sometimes they return the favor, sometimes not. I think most people are just getting their credits and letting the timer run out. Came here via BlogMad, by the way. :-D
i only leave a comment if its worth it. some of the blogs on blog mad just dont interest me.
i find an eye cathcing title or first few lines is what really decides wheter i will stay and read the whole blog or leave a comment
I surfed here on BlogMad today, too.
I don't usually leave comments that are just "I saw you" type, though. Sometimes I'll read through a blog, but just not find anything I want to comment on. If I don't feel like I can add to the conversation, I just keep surfing.
PS. Is your lower left hand box on the surf bar showing a change in the credits earned? Mine changes from 0 when I start to 1 after the first click, but never goes past that.
yeah been getting hits on my blog but nobody really cares about the writing. I agree. I usually comment a lot on people's blog who got templates that are different than standard wordpress or blogger. So layout is usually my main goal that I see when browsing the blogs.
I kept my credit 0 actually. So people who come to my blog are those who are really interested in my stuff.
I keep my expectations low while BlogMad is starting.
Surfing the pages I get a lot of repeats very quickly - I expect it will be a while before the site matures to real value.
Even if I enjoy a blog, I don't always comment, but that doesn't mean I won't come back. But I know exactly what you mean, I want to see the comments! Although, what I feel about traffic exchanges is this: I have a chance to view blogs and hopefully will find a few that I think are worth coming back to. Additionally, even if I get a 1000 hits to my blog, if I can get a handful readers out of that, I am satisfied.
try trafficsoldiers and traffic swarm (links on my blog)....i've gotten some regular readers from them.
I try to comment when I can but sometimes when I do try to leave a comment, I have to do some verification and half the time it won't work, even though I've typed everything correctly.
I've gotten more hits, but usually the comments come from people whose sites I have visited and left a comment for.
I have no problem leaving comments, and enjoy interacting with people, whether they come visit my site or not.
Later!
IMO, you're almost kind of making it hard for anyone but a select group to comment on your page. The majority of your posts on the front page are about TV, and Reality TV in specific. I don't watch those kind of shows at all, and know little about them, so I really can't add to the conversation.
You'll notice that this post has more comments because it's pretty much accessible to all bloggers. If it's more comments you're seeking, I would suggest blogging about a broader range of subjects.
you have a good point (and I address it in one of my entries to be uploaded this week)... especially in the beginning (and especially during a 2 for 1 credit day), page hits will skyrocket and comments will dwindle... I say don't expect too much too soon...
tickles has a point too... hundreds, maybe thousands of new people passing through your web space does not mean they are interested in your topics...
the way I see it, if one new friend comes of my signing up with a blog exchange or community, then it was worth it... if a few extra meaningful commenters come along, great... but I sure don't want a whole lot of empty words from total strangers just because I signed up for a community... I can find quite enough pretenders out in the real world :)
Guppy,
I was thinking the same thing about Blog Mad, not sure if I have any new readers from Blog Mad but I like it's simplicity. I did find a few porn blogs while surfing and that disturbed me so I haven't gone back :(
I leave comments if something sparks my interest. (though sometimes on blogger it won't let me leave any... does it happen to anyone else?). And I always check out sites by people who leave comments on mine. But you are right, in general the traffic goes up, but people seem to mostly skip over, probably more focused on getting credits, than on actually looking at blogs.
PS: I also seem to be getting some people coming back in general, but they never leave any comment. Would be nice to see one, just to know what they think...
i think you raise a very important point here. is getting more hits on our site enough?
i also your comment on my blog.
appreciate it.
Hi! I found your blog via blogmad and i try and surf every blog i visit. Obviously the ones that dont interest me i dont read further than the main page, but yours i did :)
Trying to understand blogmad's way of business , its understandable to say that whilst you are getting more traffic you are also possibly getting less regulars/
but if you read everything that they (blogmad ) plan on doing, I think you are going to find a lot more diverse readers coming through in the future and with that , you'll get your regulars and more so
I think blogmad at the moment are building up the base then we'l see traffic till we can't breathe
I often wonder how well this works, too. Seems like people are just content to wait til the timer runs out (hey, I've been guilty of it, too) without really reading the content. But I suppose the added exposure could snag the occasional regular. Guess we'll find out, right?
well, i do read while surfing blog. That's is what I do so I could have more information while on the net. Here is a comment for you :)
You're absolutely right. I surf a lot and read at least 1 post in each one, but I don't leave nearly enough comments. I promise to do better, starting today. Thanks for the wake up call. Hope you're having a lovely day!
